This half-sleeve haubergeon is made from stainless steel flat rings that have been dome riveted and these alternate with solid flat rings. The rings are 9 mm stainless steel with a darkened finish. This type of construction was used historically to make the creation of mail armor more efficient and quick by cutting the amount of riveting required by half. This not only sped up the creation of the armor, but also cut down on the overall cost. Solid rings could be crafted with a die and punch and simply linked with open flat rings before riveting.
