This exceptional fossilized Brachylophosaurus skin, approximately 80 million years old, preserves the hexagonal scales of this duck-billed dinosaur, known for its flat, bony crest and unusually long arms. A herbivore reaching up to 11 meters in length, Brachylophosaurus lived during the Late Cretaceous period, about 81 to 76.7 million years ago. Fossilized skin is exceedingly rare, making this specimen invaluable for understanding dinosaur appearance and biology. Hadrosaurs, including Brachylophosaurus, appear to have left skin remains more frequently, possibly due to their thick, scale-covered hides being more resistant to decay. This well-preserved specimen, discovered in 2012 in Montana’s Judith River Formation—a renowned Late Cretaceous fossil site—offers unique scientific insights and stands at 19 cm tall on its display.
